Another festival done and dusted – the limited number of venues meant that most bands played to larger numbers of patrons, and in some cases to a “full house”. There was a happy little buzz around the place.
Inverloch is a place where the same familiar faces meet, greet, and play up a storm from one year to the next. If you look up the Facebook page, you will find plenty of video clips, and compliments flying around. I rather like the collegiate atmosphere, and the rest of us get to pretend we are real musicians for a while…
We had plenty of time to catch quite a few sessions – Tony Gould Trio, the  JASSisters and Ish Allen Project being personal favourites.
But if I had to pick one session that impressed, it would be Ladies Be Good. Anne Craig and Jan Blake got together some young, inexperienced musicians and gave them the opportunity to shine. I wouldn’t pretend this was the best music we heard all weekend, but it was the set that meant the most. Bravo!
